Rachel Misenar
Art has always been Rachel’s first true love. This was a love and appreciation that was fostered in her heart early on by her father, Charlie Busler. He used to teach her about the great painters of our era such as Walter Anderson, Pablo Picasso, Georgia O’Keefe and Robert Motherwell. Their excursions to New Orleans and Magazine Street opened even more avenues for her perception of art. Art became an image of soul, nature and self.
After returning from her education travels to China, Belize and Brazil, Rachel wanted to take the elements of nature that she experienced and put them in a “canvas journal” for other people to enjoy. So, she created her art business, LuckySnow. The name “Lucky Snow” was actually the name given to Rachel by her Chinese host family. Her simple art business has now grown to not only paintings, but handmade greeting cards, jewelry, block prints and fused glass as well.
She has shown professionally at Lucas Road Gallery in Meridian for 3 years and Lounge Arts Gallery in Jackson for the past year. Her recent accomplishments include being selected for the MS Bi-State Art Exhibit (2007 and 2009) and having a one-woman show at Lucas Road Gallery in November 2007 and 2008. She is also scheduled to be a part of a group show at the Meridian Museum of Art in October. Rachel has also been selected to donate work for events such as Art for Heart (featured artist), Route 66 Art Auction, Meridian Symphony Fundraiser, Bright Lights Belhaven Nights (mural designer) and Hearts Against AIDS. She volunteers as an art teacher and counselor at a local summer camp for kids, Camp Caritas. She also currently serves as the art teacher at St. Therese Catholic School in Jackson.
Rachel lives with her husband, Seth, and little boy, Jude, in the Belhaven area of Jackson, MS. They are members of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in downtown. When she is not taking care of the baby or being creative, Rachel enjoys spending time with friends/family, running, hiking, traveling and gardening.
