Mad Dogs & Moonshine
“When I was invited to submit a short story about my childhood growing up in rural Mississippi with dirt roads beneath my feet and a love affair with pretty girls like Vernon Renee, Misty Ann and Tracey Annette, how could I turn down the chance?” says David Creel. Mad Dogs & Moonshine is a third in a series of anthologies by these two local Jacksonians with Stories from the Sleeping Porch and Fireflies in Fruit Jars as their short story collection debut two years ago. “With the southern charm of an understanding mama to combat the rough edges of a good-hearted daddy, I found myself feeling different back years ago under giant Magnolia trees of my youth. I am proud to bring my sweet, and sometimes bittersweet, coming of age and coming out stories with readers.” Adds David, “Pretty Boy, my contribution to the book, will tickle your funny bone and show you that with compassion, love and laughter…being gay can be pretty.”
