Midtown Dickens are a learn-while-you-play gaggle of best friends. They play an unrefined brand of punk-folk that draws from old-time bluegrass and the anti-folk minimalism of the Pacific Northwest. Their heart-felt set includes banjos, accordions, horns, and a musical saw among other instruments and odds and ends. In 2006 they released Oh Yell! (307 Knox Records), which garnered wide praise and a cult following for its spirited and charming odes to the wonders of everyday life. They’re currently touring across country with their new record, Lanterns, which was produced by Scott Solter (The Mountain Goats, Pattern is Movement, John Vanderslice).
