Walk of Grace

The 4th Annual Walk of Grace will be held in downtown Jackson on December 6, 2008, to raise money for Grace House, Mississippi’s largest and longest operating HIV/AIDS transitional housing. This year’s proceeds are designated to help with the refurbishment of Grace House’s new building, Liberty House, which will serve as Mississippi’s first permanent housing for people living with HIV/AIDS.

“Grace House’s purpose is to help people with HIV stabilize and transition into a permanent housing situation. For some of our clients there is no next step of transition. Liberty House will be the next step – This is a huge gap in services in Mississippi, and we are excited to be working on this much needed project,” said Trey Mangum, Executive Director of Grace House.

The 3-mile walk begins at 9:30 am at Smith Park (with registration beginning at 8:30 am) and winds through downtown Jackson, giving participants a scenic look at some of the town’s most prominent sites and historical buildings. New for this year, participants will pass through a display of panels from The AIDS Memorial Quilt at St. Andrew’s Cathedral. Rapid HIV Testing will also be available during and after the Walk (15 minute testing).

In addition, the walk serves as a memorial to those we have lost to HIV/AIDS and supports those who currently live with the virus. Participants are given an opportunity to write initials, names or other identifying information on red and white balloons to carry with them via ribbons on the walk route.

The Walk of Grace Committee is actively seeking sponsors for this year’s Walk! Sponsorship levels start at $250 which includes prominent placement of your logo on the back of our t-shirts and a $500 level that includes your logo on the back of the official Walk of Grace 2008 t-shirt plus space for your company booth the day of the event, and logo placement in our advertising in local media.
